The Meat&Mine Co

dh.jpg
Last Friday, I participate in SIBT mentor dinner in The Meat & Wine Co restaurant. It locates is on Darling Harbour and offers spectacular views of the city skyline and dazzling harbour from every floor. Located within close proximity to Sydney’s CBD, it is very for me to find it. It is established in 2000 to provide a unique and exceptionally enjoyable steakhouse dining experience. The Meat & Wine Co caters for meat lovers in a sophisticated yet relaxed environment.

When I arrived, I found Vishnu had already booked a glass private room and other everyone sit beside the long table.the-meat-and-wine-co-circular-quay-function-venue-private-dining-1-feature.jpg
Vishnu booked the Christmas business lunch. The menu is available Monday to Wednesday 12 – 4pm (2 courses $45, 3 courses $55, 5 courses $65 includes a glass of specially selected house wine, beer or soft drink).

Here is the menu:

If you do not want a business lunch, there are other choices include a la carte menu, seasonal menu, beverage menu, happy hour &tapas and so on.
I chose Bruschetta as the entre course, beef rib as the main course and chocolate ganache as the dessert.Honestly, Bruchetta was not as tasty as I thought and the dessert whose odd collocation is chocolate and peanut was too sweet to me. Nevertheless, the beef rib was quite delicious.I t was
slow-cooked in barbeque sauce then finished on a flaming hot char-grill and served with crunchy chips, so It tasted succulent and savory. finishing 3 courses, I really was full.

About the service, I was satisfied. The courses came to our table in 15 mins after ordering. The waiters filled our glass with water and changed tableware in time. In addition, he was pleased to take photos for us when we asked him.

In a nutshell, we had a good experience during the dinner. Because its not cheap price, I advise you can go there with families and friends on special days instead of having express lunch in break time during working day.

I know it is a little bit expensive for students like us. But if your family want to celebrate a special day like Christmas and have a dinner outside, I am really suggest you go there .

Let's be gay while we may O(∩_∩)O.

Poong Nab Dong (Poong BBQ)- Eastwood

Yesterday, my family and I went to the Poong Nab Dong Korean BBQ restaurant in Eastwood. The previous times we’ve been, the restaurant was rather quiet. That day, however, it was busy in comparison and it made the place feel a bit less daunting and more welcoming. The atmosphere was good, the place felt inviting.
source: https://itscaketime.files.wordpress.com/2015/03/img_2573.jpg

There were 10 of us, so we opted to order different dishes to share amongst ourselves. The food came quite quickly considering the amount of diners already occupying the place. We ordered a seafood pancake, a hot pot, fried chicken (plain and sweet chilli), cold arrowroot noodles, beef ribs with rice, and pork ribs with rice.

Beef ribs with rice

Arrowroot cold noodles

Seafood pancake

Like all other Korean restaurants, the food was served with an abundance of side dishes, as per usual for a Korean restaurant. We unfortunately didn’t order the Korean BBQ as my father dislikes it, and we had two toddlers under the age of 3 with us, so I was unable to sample that.

I personally really liked everything we ordered, especially the beef ribs with rice. All the dishes tasted fresh and quite authentic, and even the side dishes where enjoyable. I myself don’t know what all of those were, but there was definitely a kelp/seaweed dish in a vinegar marinade, as well as mashed potatoes with orange bits (most likely sweet potato or carrot), kimchi, broccoli, deep fried beans. The others I wasn’t sure of.
Side dishes

Sadly, as good as the food was, the service was very poor. For example, when they were serving the side dishes, one of the waitresses was really gruff with her actions and words. Even the previous times, the quality of service was not good.
Overall, the food was good, the prices were acceptable for the quality of food we received but the service was disappointing.

Food: 5/5
Price: 4.5/5
Service: 2/5

Chill out on Saturday-Cheap eats- Mater Bowl Chinese Restaurant

Hi buddies. Finally Saturday! Feel burnt out from five days of work or study? Come on, let's get out of the stuffy room and chill out with tasty food; ) Don't worry about checking the balance in your bank account. I am just going to introduce several amazing cheap eats in Sydney. Whether you are a student or backpacker, all of you are worthy a tasty reward on Saturday! Not only in indulgent restaurants could we find fine cuisine. Heaps of great restaurants are serving best food on prices. Let's go for it!
Today's special-Master Bowl Chinese Restaurant
In Australia, you can never feel difficult to find a Chinese restaurant. If you've just been to China Town for authentic Chinese cuisine. I can guarantee you will never get what you want. They are just over priced and definitely not Chinese food at all. This restaurant is located in Chatswood which is very convenient for you to catch a train there.
This restaurant focuses on Sichuan cuisine which is one of the most famous cuisine style in China. Chinese cuisines are generally divided into four styles which are Cantonese cuisine, Jiangsu cuisine, Shangdong cuisine and Sichuan cuisine. They are different from each other in terms of the ingredients and the process of preparation. Sichuan cuisine is original from Sichuan province which is famous for the pungency and spiciness resulting from liberal use of chillies and numb peppers(This kind of food is one of my favorite ; p). However, since I arrived in Sydney, I've never tasted any authentic Sichuan food, neither too plain or too over.
Even though the special dish in this restaurant is Maocai which is a kind of traditional dish in Sichuan Province, similar to hot pot. However, I didn't order that because it is better for more than 2 people to share. Today I just went there by myself so this time I ordered a casserole. They have a series of casseroles from seafood to mushroom for you to choose. All of them are just around $11. I ordered Spicy Mao Xue Wang Casserole.
Mao Xue Wang is a kind of jelly which is made of pork blood. Its texture is just like tofu.
Besides this special food, they also have various ingredients inside such as bean sprouts, Spam meat and pork intestines. Unlike the other Chinese restaurant that you have to order rice separately. Here, if you order any casserole, you can get a bowl of steamed rice for free! And it is just $10.8. Cheap, isn't it! And the taste really reminds me of my traveling experience in Sichuan province.

I went there around 15pm, so it is every quiet there. Only few people around. So it is very quick for me to get my order. Only costs 8 mins! How fast they are! I hate waiting when my stomach is empty. However, the stuffs seemed very tired and bored, they are not very helpful and friendly when I just wanted to check some information about the their food.
But it is clean enough to enjoy a comfortable Saturday special meal though.

Criniti's Restaurant

Ever have a craving for a TRADITIONAL Italian Pizza? If you live in Sydney, head to Darling Harbour, which is home to a branch of Criniti’s Restaurant.

Criniti’s at Darling Harbour is located inside the Harbour side Shopping Centre. The restaurant combines both a modern and vintage decor. They have a widespread menu, which consists of authentic Italian cuisine and some modern Australian dishes.

I went with a couple of friends and we ordered the 0.5m Padrino pizza which cost us $58 (the cost depends on what size pizza you get). It had tomato, mozzarella, chicken, avocado, oregano & semi-dried tomatoes. Criniti’s offers a good traditional wood fired pizza with a thin crust that is crispy and tender.

Located at Harbourside Shopping Centre, Criniti’s Darling Harbour, brings a more casual eating experience to the area, whilst still offering fantastic water views. Their extensive menu is designed to cater to everyone's taste. And with more than 180 dishes on offer, from pizzas, pastas, cocktails, martini's, wraps and burgers, there's something here for everyone.

Although, Criniti’s is a bit pricey, you do get what you pay for, an amazing meal! The service was amazing, the staff were very friendly. I would definitely come here again, and recommend this restaurant to all my friends. I would rate their service 4.5/5.

Pine Inn Hotel Bristo

There are a lot of people who are looking for good steakhouse in Sydney.
And of course some of those people want steak cost under $15. A very cheap steak.
You can find many restaurants that serve steak at $7, $8, and $10,
but I think I'm not the only one who was disappointed by the quality of steaks.
Even though I understood that it was $10, that steak was awful.

However, today I'm going to introduce a best steakhouse to comfort the people like me!
It's PINE INN HOTEL BRISTO.

It takes 10 minutes on foot from Burwood station to Pine inn. (in direction to Westfield Burwood)
It isn't very complicated. You just need to walk along Burwood Rd. But as you can see…

Zomato1.jpg

The entrance is little bit (may be not little bit...) shabby.
So you may get lost if you don't look around carefully when you walked about 10 mins.
I recommend this place, though.
This steakhouse is worthwhile to go wandering about in the street.

menu.JPG

There are 9 menus in Pine inn Bristo. All $11.80
The most popular one, T-bone steak is only available on Mondays through Thursdays.
I don't really want to compare other steakhouses to Pine inn,
but the steaks at any different steakhouses in city was so dry (not delicious at all),
and it felt like that steak was telling me "I'm $8!"

On the other hand, the steak in Pine inn is GOOD.
It's not tough and has a clean taste.
At least it doesn't looks like $12.

1424080058323.jpg

This is the picture of rump steak that I had when I went to Pine inn hotel bristo.
This is not that clear to see but the dark park in the middle of the plate is all beef.
And there is one more steak under the steak you see.
This is a really really big steak so just 2 dishes will be enough for three people.
If there are four people, three steaks of two steaks+one salad might be best to eat like kings!
sauce.JPG
And here's 6 sauces that you can chhose to put on the steaks.
I think Mushroom sauce is the most tasty one.
Actually, I love mushroom so much that I didn't try other sauces
so I don't have any idea about other sauces.
Even so, everyone also choose mushroom sauce in Pine inn.
So I want you to try mushroom sauce to enjoy REAL Pine inn hotel bristo.

Unfortunately, in service,
Pine inn dose not treat you like a valued customer or provide convenience for you.
Because Pine inn is a steakhouse which serves cheap steaks
and has a lot of people in the evening and such a noisy place!
Instead, Pine inn will give you a huge steak that can make you FULL in the very short cooking time.
You have to get your water by yourself,
But it doesn't mean anything bad in the world of beautiful $11.80 steak.

Anyway
If you were looking for a steakhouse with the good quality of big steak,
PINE INN will be the destination of your journey to steakhouse.
I guarantee that PINE INN is the perfect cheap steakhouse.
So I do hope this post to help you to prevent squandering your money
by having steaks five times a month :)

Here is the map and address.
Enjoy your meal!
