Adriano Zumbo

If you are a dessert lover, you may need to make one of life’s most difficult decisions upon entering the shop – which cake to choose? Adriano Zumbo’s cakes and pastries are all amazingly beautiful and intricate.

If you have watched MasterChef Australia, you may have watched Chef Adriano challenging contestants with his difficult-to-create desserts, also incorporating unusual ingredients such as black olive and beetroot to sweet treats.

The macarons are enough for me to pause and think about. There are twelve flavours currently in production. They range from the fruitiness of pink grapefruit, pineapple & ginger, forest berry and green apple, to the more unusual blue cheese, yoghurt & chilli, liquorice and coconut pandan. Dessert-inspired flavours bring the candy pink coconut encrusted "finger bun", a deep brown "sticky date pudding" and the almond flaked "feullitine".

Adriano Zumbo's website will tell you he trained at the world-famous pastry school Ecole Lentore in Paris. It's clear at first glance that these are no ordinary desserts. Each gateaux is considered and deliberate, creative flavour and textures merged into exquisite edible art forms that are almost a shame to eat. The quirky names of many of his desserts only add to the appeal.

Chill out on Saturday-Kasalong Thai Cuisine

Today I am going to introduce a very special place-Kasalong. It is a Thai cuisine restaurant. I went there with my host family having Christmas dinner. It is the first time I went there, however, I wish I could be there earlier. The current owner of this restaurant is my friend who is a very talented Thai chef, a lovely and friendly girl grown up in Chiang Mai. She learnt all the traditional cooking skills from her beloved mother and even some special dishes are inherited from her grandfather. Here you can experience not only traditional Thai food but also private designed cuisine from a talented Thai chef family. It's gonna be an wonderful and interesting taste journey. .
Different from the other restaurant, it's located on the second floor of a small building. If you didn't pay attention, it's easy for you to miss out.

Even though it has no attractive decoration outsider, as soon as getting into the second floor, you will be surprised by what it creative interior decor. It is definitely a high quality restaurant. No matter the original Thai style decor or the soft background music, it just make you feel like having a holiday in Thailand. Having these authentic and fabulous Thai food is like having a massage for your palette.

Because it is family Christmas dinner, my friend recommend the most special and season dished to us. They firstly serve a bottle of wine which is the best company with red meat.

The environment here is very pirvate and comfy. You can never find an other place better for family dinner.

I asked the manager of the restaurant to recommend some seafood dishes. Despite his professional hospitality attitude, his advice is just what I want . What I ordered is Cashew Nut and Chilli Jam.

The prows are very fresh and tender. The flavor of chilly with a little bit sour of lemon makes you think of the beautiful beach and palm trees in Thailand. My friend also recommend the Crying Tiger which is like BBQ marinated beef. However, all the ingredient here are 100% fresh and selected carefully to guarantee you have the best experience here. The texture of the beef is very soft. Every bite with a dip of wine, they are just amazing! This dish must become my regular routine from now on.

The most surprising thing in this restaurant is the dessert. I've never thought I could find such delicious and special dessert in a Thai restaurant. Thailand is an amazing country with various wonderful food!
These are what we ordered: mango sticky rice, flaming deep fried ice-cream with caramel sauce and taro pearls. Mango sticky rice is made of fresh Mango on top and the sticky rice cooked with coconut milk. Every spoon of sticky rice with half spoon of fresh mango while the aroma of coconut spread in your mouth, your palette can't be more satisfied. Taro pearls is minced taro with coconut milk as well. The most surprise one is the flaming ice-cream. When it was served up, all the girls were screaming. The sugarcane candy is flaming and the deep fried ice-cream is chilled on the bottom. Who can refuse such creative dessert?

I really enjoy this Christmas dinner with my Australia family and surprisedly found an unique authentic Thai eatery. If you are looking for some Thai food experience, I strongly recommend you here, not just because the owner is my friend but also because this is definitely a place you can't miss out in Sydney. Lee Chef Restaurant

Lee Chef Restaurant is located on Church Street, Parramatta, across from the level 3 exit of Westfield. They are a Vietnamese restaurant, one of a few in Parramatta. Personally, it’s my favourite one as the portions are worth more for the money you pay, which isn’t expensive at all.

Menu

I often eat there by myself and almost always order the rare beef and beef ball noodle soup (Phở). Too often when I eat Vietnamese food, particularly Phở, I find that the broth dries my throat out and makes me thirsty (it’s because of the MSG). Eating here, however, I find that I won’t get parched much, if at all.

The noodles come with the usual platter of raw bean sprouts, lemon wedge(s) and basil leaves, as well as a small amount of chopped chilli. I like adding the lemon, a few leaves and the whole lot of chopped chilli. My brother, on the other hand, likes putting Sriracha and Hoisin sauces into his, and hates the lemon, so it really depends on what you like to decide what to put in.

Overall, the food is very satisfactory, the service is very welcoming, the prices are very decent and the interior of the restaurant appears friendly.

The Grounds of Alexandria

The Grounds of Alexandria is one of those places which is well known amongst Sydney. Located in the industrial area of Alexandria, this restaurant is located in an old pie factory. Here is where industrial define meets exposed bricks and lovely maintained gardens.

The Grounds of Alexandria is an extremely popular place not only on weekend but on weekdays too. This restaurant is a complete enterprise comprising of a café, a coffee roaster research facility, heirloom gardens with chickens, and a market on the weekends, with a petting zoo, and a flower shop.

The mix of people is intriguing. You will find girlfriends having a girl’s day out, and young families, and also whole generations coming together for Sunday lunch. This busy place is with people who want to surround themselves with beautiful things and who would like to share this space with like-minded people.

The 'Ground' Burger - ground beef brisket, cheese, lettuce, cornichon mayo served on a toasted brioche bun with beer battered fries $19. It was very simple, not overdone by various filling. Brioche bun toasted perfectly.

It is truly an inspiring place. No matter where you look you feel like things have been arranges with tender love and care. Every corner offers surprises to a point where even the market stalls are amazingly arranged.

Despite the queues and lack of flexibility from staff. I couldn’t help but love the photogenic slice of life which The Grounds of Alexandria severed up!

Sashimi Shinsengumi

Do you like sushi? And its variety?
If you are, I guess you may little bit disappoint with the sushi restaurants around you.
There are a lot of fishes in the ocean so we can enjoy the variety of sushi
such as flatfish, sea bream, mackerel, eel and croaker sushi....
However, it is hard to find a good sushi restaurant where you can try all these kind of sushi dishes
and REAL Japanese style serving of sushi.
Now I’m going to tell you a perfect sushi restaurant to experience fantastic sushi pieces!
It’s Sashimi Sinsengumi !!

thefoodstroll.wordpress.com

You can order in the set of 18 pieces of sushi cost $55, which sounds expensive,
but actually $55 is cheap price for this quality of sushi!
You’ll never have this quality of sushi in the world! Even in Japan..

sushi2.JPGsushi.JPGsushi4.JPGsushi3.JPG

Just like the traditional sushi restaurant in Japan,
a skilled cook will make the sushi pieces in front of you
and put them on your wooden plate one by one when they are ready.
It is not like the other sushi restaurants where make the sushi beforehand
and serve when customers order the sushi.
As the freshness is the most important thing in Japanese raw dishes,
you can experience the real taste of sushi pieces with the serving style!
This is the most popular style of serving in Japan
and little bit expensive than other style of restaurants
because this is pretty time-consuming and specialized to serve the best quality of sushi
(But it's very luxury..really.)
So Go Sashimi Sinsengumi and have some sushi !
You’ll experience the real Japanese food and be addicted to its flavor!

Rising Sun Seafood Restaurant

Rising Sun Seafood Restaurant is located in Sydney’s Beverly Hills, near Hurstville. The interior is like any other typical Chinese restaurant, with white walls and round tables of various sizes. It wasn’t overly crowded, and the noise was at a comfortable level.

We ordered various dishes, but the one that stood out the most was the raw lobster sashimi. Other dishes included the second part of the lobster dish- cooked lobster (not entirely sure on how to describe it apart from that…), stir fried abalone and fillet steak in a pate sauce.

The food was delicious, and even though I’m not usually a very big fan of the lobster sashimi, it was surprisingly nice this time, though I think the lemon juice contributed to that greatly. What was a little bit disappointing though, was that the lobster flesh was not served on the whole lobster. The previous times we’ve visited that restaurant, the presentation was always fun, albeit a bit bizarre (the WHOLE lobster makes an appearance, occasional twitches of it eyes and all!). This time, however, it was a bit lacklustre in comparison to previous visits. That being said though, everything else was normal and all in all the experience was great.

The service was another thing that was brilliant. The waiter made us feel comfortable, even my relatives who hadn’t been to that restaurant before felt welcomed. Lots of jokes were exchanged, and it made us all feel welcomed.

Overall, the food was great, service was great, and the price for that amount of people (over 15), plus the food we’d ordered was quite worth it.

Yesterday, my relatives and I had a late lunch at Yama in the Queen Victoria Building. They are primarily a Japanese restaurant, but have menu items including kimchi udon (Korean) and bacon and egg sandwiches (western).

Add caption

Overall, the dining experience was very satisfying. The food, while a bit more pricey than it normally would be, came in servings a bit larger than expected. We ordered a kimchi udon, 2 cold soba noodles, a plate of tempura, soba noodle salad, a creamy soup of some sort and a bacon and egg sandwich with a side of chips.

Honestly, the taste of the food was worth the price. The serving dishes for the soba noodles were traditional, and aside from being seated very near to the ladies’ restroom (which by the way was the most spacious public bathroom I’ve ever seen), it was thoroughly enjoyable. The service was good, too, despite there being lots of people at the time of arrival. Would 100% go there again if given the chance.
